• MP3/WMA files
• MP3 (MPEG1/2 Audio Layer III) is a standard
coding format for digital audio data compres-
sion.
• WMA (Windows Media
®
Audio) is the coding
format for digital audio data compression devel-
oped by Microsoft Corporation.

tries.
• Windows Media is either a registered trademark
or trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the
United States and/or other countries.
• File specifications
• This audio system recognizes files as MP3/
WMA files and reproduces them only if their file
names have the extension “.mp3” or “.wma” rep-
resenting MP3 or WMA.
• The system supports VBR (variable bit rate)
encoded audio files.
• The system supports multi-session files. How-
ever, it will not reproduce any session that is not
closed.
NOTE:
• Bit rate is the amount of data (number of bits)
processed per second. Variable bit rate (VBR) is
a method in which the bit rate is varied during
the data encoding process.
• Sampling frequency refers to the number of
times that analog signals are converted into dig-
ital signals (AD conversion) in one second.
• Multisession is a writing format applicable to
recordable CDs (such as CD-R). Closing means
the process to record a session closing state-
ment at the end of writing.
