Confirming the Connection Method
This machine supports local and network connection.
Before installing the software, check how the machine is connected.
• The printer drivers do not support clustering technology under Windows Server 2003/2003
R2/2008.
To install the following software applications, press the corresponding Installation Key:

Local Connection
If the machine is connected via USB, install the necessary software by inserting the supplied CD-
ROM into your computer and then clicking [Quick Install for USB]. See page 53 "Quick Install
for USB".
Network Connection
If the machine is connected via the network, install the necessary software by inserting the supplied
CD-ROM into your computer and then clicking [Quick Install for Network]. See page 64 "Quick
Install for Network".
• With a network connection, you can use the Windows printer port to send print jobs to the printer
directly (peer-to-peer transfer) or use the machine as a network printer and send print jobs to the
machine from a client computer via a print server.
• To update the printer driver, download the latest driver from the manufacturer's Web site.
