Inspection - Exterior
Inspect the outside of the oscilloscope for damage, wear, and missing parts.
Use
Table
6-2
as a guide. Oscilloscopes that appear to have been dropped
or otherwise abused
should be checked thoroughly to verify correct opera-
tion and performance. Repair defects that
could cause personal injury or
lead to further damage
to
the oscilloscope immediately.

Cleaning Procedure - Exterior
1 . Remove loose dust on the outside of the oscilloscope with a lint free
cloth.
2.
Remove remaining dirt with a lint free cloth dampened
in
a general pur-
pose detergent-and-water solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
To
prevent getting moisture inside the oscilloscope during external
cleaning, use only enough liquid
to
dampen the cloth
or
applicator.
3.
Clean the CRT screen with a lint-free cloth dampened with either a
75% isopropyl
alcohol solution
or,
preferably, a gentle, general purpose
detergent-and-water solution.
NOTE
If
the
CRT
Implosion Shield needs further cleansing, refer to the
procedure on page
6-7.
