Check and Adjust Fan Belt Tension
--- every 100 hours (first time after 50 hours)
IMPORTANT: Loose fan belt may result in insufficient
battery charging, engine overheating, as well as
premature belt wear. Belts that are too tight, however,
can damage both bearings and belts.
Inspect
Checkfanbelttensionbydepressingthemidpointbetween
fan pulley (1) and alternator pulley (2) by your thumb with
adepressingforceofapproximately98N(10kgf,22lbf).
Deflection:7to9mm
Visuallycheckthebeltforwear.Replaceifnecessary.
Adjust Fan Belt Tension
ZX30U-5N,35U-5N
1. Removebolts(4)fromtherightsideoftheseat.Remove
covers(3)toopenthecheckingport.
2. Loosenadjustingbolt(6)andmountingbolt(7)of
alternator (5).
3. Adjustbelttensionbymovingalternator(5)forwardor
backward.
4. Securelytightenbolts(6)and(7).
IMPORTANT: When a new belt is installed, be sure to re-
adjust the tension after operating the engine for 3 to 5
minutes at slow idle speed to be sure that the new belt
is seated correctly.
