24 SERVICE SCHEDULE 184
24.1 Service schedule
Every 20,000 km (12,428 mi) or every 2 years
Every 10,000 km (6,214 mi) or annually or after every sporting use
Once after 1,000 km (621.4 mi)
Check that the electrical equipment is functioning correctly.
Read out the fault memory using the KTM diagnostics tool.
Check the measured service values with the KTM diagnostics tool.
Change the engine oil and filter, clean the oil screens. ( p. 167)
Check the front brake linings. ( p. 85)
Check the rear brake linings. ( p. 89)
Check the brake discs. ( p. 69)
Check the brake lines for damage and leakage.
Check the rear brake fluid level. ( p. 91)
Check the free travel of the foot brake lever. ( p. 91)
Check that the shock absorber and fork are leak tight. If necessary and depending on use, service the fork and
shock absorber.
Check the swingarm bearing.
Check the wheel bearing for play.
Check the tire condition. ( p. 68)
Check the tire air pressure. ( p. 68)
Check the spoke tension. ( p. 69)
Check for rim run-out.
Check the chain, rear sprocket, engine sprocket, and chain guide. ( p. 75)

Grease all moving parts (e.g. side stand, hand lever, chain, ...) and check for smooth operation.
Clean the dust boots of the fork legs. ( p. 15)
Check the front brake fluid level. ( p. 86)

Change the spark plug.
Check the valve clearance.

Check that the throttle cables are undamaged, routed without sharp bends and set correctly.

Check the screws and nuts for tightness.
Change the rear brake fluid. ( p. 93)

Check the clutch.
Check the headlight setting. ( p. 97)
Check that the radiator fan is functioning properly.
Final check: Check the vehicle for roadworthiness and take a test ride.
Read out the fault memory using the KTM diagnostics tool after a test ride.
