TCD Setup
Setting up a TCD requires that you equalize carrier gas flows through both channels,
followed by balancing the current through the two filaments. The TCD is
nondestructive and can be used in series with other detectors. The TCD is a
universal detector that is concentration sensitive. The TCD sensitivity depends on
the filament current, component concentrations, and the difference in thermal
conductivity between the carrier gas and the component.
NOTE: To prevent TCD filament damage, shut off the filament current before
disconnecting columns or turning off gas flows.
To set up a TCD, read the TCD setup summary, then follow the steps.
