Setting up a PID
NOTE: The detector gas modules have been set to OFF at the factory for both manual and
PPC pneumatics.
PID Overview
The PerkinElmer Photoionization Detector (PID) is designed to allow the effluent
from a chromatographic column to be ionized by ultraviolet light (provided the
ionization potential of the effluent is less than that of the UV source). The current
produced by the ion flow is measured by the detector and is proportional to the
concentration of the ionized material.
