Transportation safety

Fire and combustion safety
Flammable or potentially explosive cleaning sprays must not be used, since the resulting vapor
could ignite, causing fatal or other serious personal injury and/ or damage to equipment.
Fire regulations for the type of area being used should be fully applied, observed and enforced.
Fire extinguishers should be provided for both electrical and non-electrical fires.
All users of this electrical equipment should be fully aware of and trained in the use of fire
extinguishers and other fire-fighting equipment, and in local fire procedures.
Only use extinguishers on electrical or chemical fires which are specifically labeled for those
purposes. Using water or other liquids on an electrical fire can lead to fatal or other serious
personal injury.
If it is safe to do so, attempt to isolate the equipment from electrical power and other supplies
before attempting to fight a fire. This will reduce the risk of electric shocks.
Electromagnetic compatibility
WARNING
The scanner is designed and tested to withstand electrostatic discharges (ESD). The use of
accessories and cables other than those specified, can result in increased emission or
decreased immunity to ESD.

Cleaning safety
Follow the cleaning procedures described in these Instructions for Use, see chapter “Cleaning”
on page 49.
CAUTION
Broken slides and/or glass splinters can be present in the scanner. To prevent cuts or glass
splinters entering the skin, take appropriate precautions when cleaning the scanner and
nearby surfaces.
