Cleaning
To maintain a reliable operating scanner, the user must regularly clean the scanner according to
the cleaning instructions described in this chapter. The frequency and materials to be used are
described in the table "Cleaning overview". How to clean the scanner is described in the
chapter “Cleaning instructions”
on page 50.
Cleaning is necessary to remove dust, glass pieces, mounting media, wax or other particles that
can cause damage to the scanner.
Cleaning techniques for both the equipment and the room must comply with all applicable laws
and regulations which have the force of law within the jurisdiction(s) in which the equipment is
located.
CAUTION
Never allow water or other liquids to enter the equipment, since these may cause electrical
short-circuits or metal corrosion.
Only use swabs with a microfiber fabric over foam tip to clean the scanner. Do not use cotton
swabs, since this might leave cotton particles inside the scanner.
Do not use air dusters to clean parts of the scanner, since this can cause damage to the
scanner.
