Scanner performance
Observed issue Possible cause Action
Image is out of focus. Slide preparation is poor
and/or slide is dirty.

Make sure slides are prepared correctly, see chapter
“Preparation of slides” on page 27 including the slide
quality check guidelines.
Incorrect tissue area is de-
tected.
Slide is dirty.

Slides must be clean. Use alcohol to clean the outside of
the slide if necessary. Slides must be dry, not sticky, free
of annotations/marker in the scan area, and free of fin-
gerprints. There should be no tissue artifacts on back of
slide.
Scan time takes too long. Alignment of tissue on the
slide.

Proper orientation of the tissue on the slide reduces the
scan time.
Scanner is slow. Network problem connect-
ing scanner to IMS.

Make sure that the network connection to IMS is at least
1Gb bandwidth. If necessary, contact local IT depart-
ment.
Scanner shut down unex-
pected.
Automatic shut down. By default the scanner will go into standby mode 30 mi-
nutes after the last user interaction or last slide scan and
it will switch off automatically after 7 days of being in
standby mode.
