11.9 Electromagnetic compatibility of the converter
EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) means that the devices function satisfactorily without
interfering with other devices and without being disrupted by other devices. EMC applies when
the emitted interference (emission level) and the interference immunity are matched with each
other.
The product standard IEC/EN 61800-3 describes the EMC requirements placed on "Variable-
speed drive systems".
A variable-speed drive system (or Power Drive System PDS) consists of the converter as well
as the associated electric motors and encoders including the connecting cables.
