Pinion gear shim
NOTE:
Find the pinion gear shim thickness (T3) by
selecting shims until the specified measure-
ment (M) is obtained with the special tool.
1. Install:
● Pinion height gauge
● Drive shaft
● Drive shaft bearing
NOTE:
● Attach the pinion height gauge to the
drive shaft so that the drive shaft is cen-
tered in the gauge’s hole.
● After the wing nuts contact the fixing
plate, tighten them another 1/4 of a turn.
2. Install:
● Pinion gear
● Pinion gear nut
3. Measure:
● Measurement (M)
NOTE:
● Measure the clearance between the pin-
ion height gauge and the pinion gear as
shown.
● Perform the same measurement at three
points on the pinion gear.
● Find the average of the measurements
(M).
