IGNITION SPARK GAP
WARNING
When performing the spark gap test,
observe the following:
● Do not touch any of the connections of
the spark gap tester leads.
● Make sure no sparks leak out of the
removed spark plug cap.
● Keep flammable gas or liquids away,
since this test can produce sparks.
1. Check:
● Ignition spark gap
Less than specification → Continue to
check the CDI unit output.
Spark gap:
9 mm (0.4 in)
Checking steps:
● Remove the spark plugs from the
engine.
● Connect the spark plug caps as shown.
● Set the spark gap length on the adjust-
ing knob.
Spark gap tester:
YM-34487/90890-06754
● Crank the engine and observe the igni-
tion system spark through the dis-
charge window.
