2. Adjust:
Intake valve clearance a
Exhaust valve clearance b
POWER TRIM AND TILT (PTT) SYSTEM
PTT fluid check
1. Check:
Fluid level
Level is low Add fluid to the proper
level.
WARNING
To prevent the PTT fluid from spurting out
due to internal pressure, the outboard
should be kept fully tilted up (the tilt rod at
full length) while slowly removing the
check bolt.
Adjusting steps:
Turn the flywheel magneto and align
mark “ 1 on the driven sprocket
with mark “ 2 on the cylinder
block.
Loosen the locknut 3.
Adjust the valve adjusting screw 4.
Turning in
Valve clearance is
decreased.
Turning out
Valve clearance is
increased.
Adjust the intake and exhaust valve
clearances for cylinder #1.
Turn the timing pulley 180˚ and align
mark “
3 on the driven sprocket
with mark “ 2 on the cylinder
block.
Adjust the intake and exhaust valve
clearances for cylinder #2.
Checking steps:
Tilt up the outboard and lock it with
the tilt-lock knob.
Remove the PTT fluid level check bolt.
Check that the fluid level is directly
below the fluid level checking hole.
