To enable the use of the Synchronization Status Message (SSM) on a synchronous Ethernet connection,
use the ssm command in controller configuration mode. To disable this feature, use the no form of this
command.

Syntax Description This command has no arguments or keywords.
Command Default This command is disabled by default.

Usage Guidelines The SSM informs network nodes about the quality level of the clock so that each node can select the best
available clock source. The SSM also helps prevent timing loops and detect clocking failures. For more
