■ Split frequency operation
Split frequency operation allows you to transmit and
receive on two different frequencies. Split frequency
operation is performed using frequencies in VFO A
and VFO B.
•TheSplitfrequencyoperationisautomaticallyturnedOFF
when turning ON the One-touch repeater function.
The following is an example of setting 21.290 MHz for
receiving and 21.310 MHz for transmitting.
q Set 21.290 MHz in VFO A.
w Push [SPLIT] to turn ON the Split operation.
•Thetransmit(VFOB)frequencyand“SPLIT”appear.
e Hold down [A/B] for 1 second to equalize the trans-
mit (VFO B) frequency to the receive (VFO A) fre-
quency.
•Theequalizedtransmit(VFOB)frequencyappears.
•TheQuickSplitfunctionismuchmoreconvenientfor
selecting the transmit frequency. See the next section
for details.
r While holding down [XFC], rotate [MAIN DIAL] to
set the transmit frequency to 21.310 MHz.
•Thetransmitfrequencyisdisplayedwhileholdingdown
[XFC].
t Now you can receive on 21.290 MHz and transmit
on 21.310 MHz.
To change the transmit and receive frequencies, push
[A/B] to exchange VFO A and VFO B.

• Direct frequency shift input
The frequency shift can be entered directly.
q Push [F-INP ENT].
w Enter the desired frequency shift with the digit
keys.
•–9.999to+9.999MHzcanbeset.(in1kHzsteps)
•Whenyourequireaminusshiftdirection,rstpush
[GENE•].
e Push [SPLIT] to input the frequency shift to the
transmit frequency, and the Split function is turned
ON.
[Example]
To transmit on a 1 kHz higher frequency:
- Push [F-INP ENT], [1.8 1] then [SPLIT].
To transmit on 3 kHz lower frequency:
-Push[F-INPENT],[GENE•],[73]then[SPLIT].
• Split Lock function
Accidentally releasing [XFC] while rotating [MAIN
DIAL] changes the receive frequency. To prevent this,
use both the Split Lock and Dial Lock functions to
change the transmit frequency only. The Split Lock
function cancels the Dial Lock function while holding
down [XFC] during split frequency operation.
The Split Lock function is OFF by default, but can be
turned ON in the Set mode. (p. 162)
