REMOVING THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLIES
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
WARNING

Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.

Place the vehicle on the centerstand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.

REMOVING THE SWINGARM
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

no danger of it falling over.

Place the vehicle on the centerstand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
2. Remove:
• Rear wheel axle nut “1”
• Brake hose holder “2”
• Rear brake caliper “3”
• Rear shock absorber assembly lower bolt “4”
IP
Do not squeeze the brake lever when removing
the brake caliper.
3. Remove:
• Swingarm

CHECKING THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLY
1. Check:
• Rear shock absorber rod
Bends/damage → Replace the rear shock
absorber assembly.
• Rear shock absorber
Oil leaks → Replace the rear shock absorber
assembly.
• Spring
Damage/wear → Replace the rear shock ab-
sorber assembly.
• Bushings
Damage/wear → Replace.
• Bolts
Bends/damage/wear → Replace.

CHECKING THE SWINGARM
1. Check:
• Swingarm
Bends/cracks/damage → Replace.
2. Check:
• Spacer
• Collar
• Oil seals
• Bearing
Damage/wear → Replace.

INSTALLING THE SWINGARM
1. Lubricate:
• Bearing
• Oil seal lips
2. Install:
• Swingarm “1”
• Rear wheel axle nut “2”
(temporarily tighten)
• Swingarm mounting bolt (upper side) “3”
(temporarily tighten)
• Swingarm mounting bolt (lower side) “4”
(temporarily tighten)
3. Tighten:
• Rear wheel axle nut “2”
• Swingarm mounting bolt (upper side) “3”
• Swingarm mounting bolt (lower side) “4”
