TROUBLESHOOTING
The starter motor fails to turn.

• Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
1. Storage box
2. Front cowling
3. Storage compartment

1. Check the fuses.
(Main, ignition, and signaling sys-
tem)
Refer to “CHECKING THE FUS-
ES” on page 8-77.
Replace the fuse(s).
2. Check the battery.
Refer to “CHECKING AND
CHARGING THE BATTERY” on
page 8-78.
• Clean the battery terminals.
• Recharge or replace the battery.
3. Check the starter motor operation.
Refer to “CHECKING THE START-
ER MOTOR OPERATION” on page
8-84.
Starter motor is OK. Perform the electric
starting system troubleshooting, starting
with step 5.
4. Check the starter motor.
Refer to “CHECKING THE START-
ER MOTOR” on page 5-46 and
“CHECKING THE STARTER MO-
TOR” on page 5-106.
Repair or replace the starter motor.
5. Check the starting circuit cut-off re-
lay.
Refer to “CHECKING THE RE-
LAYS” on page 8-80.
Replace the starting circuit cut-off relay.
6. Check the starter relay.
Refer to “CHECKING THE RE-
LAYS” on page 8-80.
Replace the starter relay.
7. Check the main switch.
Refer to “CHECKING THE
SWITCHES” on page 8-73.
Replace the main switch/immobilizer unit.
