[Scan - Image Quality] screen
The [Image Quality] screen allows you to optimize the settings such as document type
and scanning density.
Note • Items and buttons displayed with thin dotted lines are disabled.
[Scan]>[Image Quality]
Original Type
This feature allows you to select appropriate
image quality settings according to the type of
the document to be scanned (photograph, text,
etc).
By selecting [Text/Line], you can optimize the
image quality of typical documents consisting
mainly of text and lines (e.g. drawings).
To execute more specialized scanning, use other
modes.
Important • When [Black & White] is set for [Output Color/Halftone], [Picture] and [Photo] cannot be
selected.
• When [Original Type] is set to [Picture] or [Photo], [BG Suppress.] (Background Suppres-
sion) cannot be set to [On (Auto)].
 Text/Line
Select this mode to scan text clearly. Graphs, illustrations, etc. are also scanned
clearly in this mode.
 Text/Photo
Select this mode to scan documents that contain both text and photos.
 Others...
Allows you to configure the settings for printed materials, photographs, transparen-
cies, blueprints, and uneven-toned documents.

Picture
Select this mode to scan printed materials such as posters and pamphlets.

Photo
Most suitable for printed photographs.
z
Transparent
Most suitable for transparent documents. This suppresses fringing around text.

Blueprint
Most suitable for blueprint documents.
