Step 4 (conditional): Connect the server interconnect
cable
If the purple one-foot server interconnect cable is not already connected to
the two server modules, you need to connect it. To do this, at the rear of the
enclosure, connect the cable to the server interconnect port on each server
module.
Step 5: Cable the enclosures
Before you can wipe the drives in the S30 Node, you need to connect the
SAS cables that enable the server modules to communicate with the
enclosures:
•
If the S30 Node was returned racked and has four or fewer enclosures,
all the SAS cables are most likely already correctly connected at both
ends. In this case, you need to verify that the S30 Node is cabled
correctly.
•
If the S30 Node was returned completely or partially unracked, you need
to connect all the SAS cables that are not connected and finish
connecting any cables that are returned connected only at one end.
Important: The SAS cables must be connected in the configuration
described in this step. Connecting the cables incorrectly may result in the
drives in one or more enclosures not being wiped.
Each SAScable connects to a enclosure at one end and either a server
module or an enclosure at the other end. The cables are connected to the
SAS ports on the server modules and to the SAS host ports on the
enclosures.
