PIN Authentication
• Sometimes it is required to receive the incoming calls on FXS and FXO port by the users (such as the
users at 'corporate offices'), only from the specific callers. Other callers should not be allowed to make call
to these users.
• To achieve this, feature 'PIN Authentication' is supported in ATA211.
• This feature can also be used as security feature for ATA211, while receiving important calls.
The incoming calls will be allowed to specific callers only if the caller has proved his authentication.
• The authentication can be proved with following credential:
•PIN
• If the 'PIN' number dialed by the caller while making call to FXS or FXO port, is same as the PIN number
programmed in the 'PIN Authentication Table' of your ATA211, then only the incoming call from that caller
will be processed further.
The 'PIN Authentication' is defined for following ports:
• 'PIN Authentication' on FXS Port
• 'PIN Authentication' on FXO Port
• 'PIN Authentication' on SIP
• For FXS Port: Refer chapter “FXS Port” to enable/disable the feature on FXS port.
• For FXO port: Refer chapter “FXO Port” to enable/disable the feature on FXO port. The feature will work
only for following Routing options:
• “Answer the call and route to dialed number as per incoming call route selection" OR
• "Route to FXS. If the call is not answered within ring timer, answer the call and route to dialed number
as per incoming call route selection".
• For SIP Account: The Authentication on SIP (Caller Authentication - parameter) can be programmed as
None, Digest or PIN type authentication. If 'None' is selected, Authentication on SIP will be disabled. If
'PIN' is selected, Authentication on SIP Account will be 'PIN' Type. If this option 'PIN' is selected, configure
one of the following Routing Types:
• 'Collect number and route to FXS' OR
• 'Collect number and route to FXO'.
Refer chapter “SIP Accounts” to configure the parameter 'Authentication Type'.
The ATA211 will check invalid PIN only for three times. After 3 attempts, the ATA will reject the call.
How to use?
PIN Authentication on FXO port:
• Enable the 'PIN Authentication' feature and select suitable routing option as mentioned above, by
configuring the page 'FXO Port'.
• The caller should call the ATA211 on FXO port.
• He will get the Prompt tone (routing tone) if the feature is enabled. Else he will get dial tone and can dial
the number without dialing any PIN Number.
• On getting routing tone, caller should dial the 'PIN number' configured in webpage 'PIN Authentication' of
the called ATA211. He will get dial tone if the PIN is valid. He will get 'Error tone-2' for 3 seconds (fixed) if
the PIN is invalid. After 3 seconds he will get Feature tone prompting him to dial the PIN again.
• He will get Error Tone-2 for maximum of 3 attempts of dialing invalid PIN number. After 3 attempts, the
caller will get Error tone.
• If the caller gets authenticated, he will get dial tone/feature tone. Now, the caller should dial the desired
number.
