Time Settings
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is commonly used for time and date synchronization needs. NTP is a protocol
designed to synchronize the clocks of computers over a network. For providing actual accurate time and date
ATA211uses Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) It is a simplified adaptation of the NTP, to get time from a
reliable, public Internet Time Server.
The ATA211 allows you to select from three free, reliable public internet time servers run by the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, Microsoft, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), to obtain date and
time. You can also configure an NTP time server of your preference, other than these.
These public internet time servers provide time offset from the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and you can select
the time according to the time zone of the country you are installing the SETU ATA211. For instance, if your ATA211
is installed in India, you can select the time zone for India (GMT+5.30 Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi).
The time for India is offset from GMT by +5.30 hours. Similarly, if your ATA211 is installed in Hawaii, select the time
zone for Hawaii, which is offset by GMT -10:00 hours, to set the correct time and date.
