Answer Signaling Type
In general, ATA kind of products is mostly connected with PCO machines in Cyber Cafe's or with FXO port of PBX.
When call is made through ATA and called party answers the call, it is required to generate maturity information on
FXS port of ATA so that the device connected to FXS port of ATA viz. PCO machine or PBX can start billing, if
required by the user. In absence of maturity information on FXS port, call will not be considered as matured and no
billing will be generated.
To achieve this feature, select the Answer Signaling Type from the options:
• None
• Polarity (Battery) Reversal
• None: This option is used when no answer signaling is to be generated on the FXS port.
• Polarity Reversal: This option is used when answer signaling is to be generated in the form of Polarity
Reversal on the FXS port. In case of polarity reversal, the Battery polarity of the FXS port will get
reversed. Select the option 'Polarity Reversal' for the applications where, FXS port is connected to FXO
port of PBX or PCO machine.
Default = Polarity Reversal.
Disconnect Signaling Type
As a general application, telecom equipment like PCO machine is connected to the FXS port of the ATA. Now
whenever the called party (remote party) disconnects or goes on-hook, it is required to inform this event (by some
signaling), to the FXS port of ATA, so that the PCO machine can consider the call as complete and stop billing. In
absence of this signal, the call is considered as complete when the caller goes on hook. But this will result in
inaccurate billing.
To solve such problems, the system supports 'Disconnect Signaling'. When a call is made from FXS to FXO/SIP or
FXO/SIP to FXS, if FXO/SIP disconnects, Disconnect Signal is generated on the FXS port.
You can select Disconnect Signaling Type from following options:
• None
• Polarity Reversal
• Open Loop Disconnect
• None: It is used when no signaling is to be generated on FXS for call disconnection.
• Polarity Reversal: It is used when the call disconnection is to be signaled in the form of Polarity
Reversal. If this option is selected, the Battery polarity of the FXS port will be reversed and user will get
Error tone, when the call is disconnected by the remote end.
• Open Loop Disconnect: It is used when call disconnection is to be signaled in the form of Open Loop
Disconnect signal. During this, the Battery voltage on FXS port will be removed for time of Open loop
disconnect timer programmed for that FXS port and will be restored again. If this option is selected,
user gets Error tone, when the call is disconnected by the remote end.
Default = Polarity Reversal.
• Open Loop Disconnect Timer: Open Loop Disconnect Timer" is applicable only if Open Loop
Disconnect option is selected for the Disconnect Signaling Type.
When open loop disconnect signal is generated, the Battery(Current) voltage on FXS port is
removed for Open loop disconnect timer programmed for the FXS port and the voltage will be
restored again after this period. But the Polarity of the FXS port battery voltage will not be changed.
You will get Error tone after disconnect signal is generated on the FXS port. Default = 500msec.
