Automatic Number Translation
• Automatic Number Translation (ANT) feature translates the number dialed by the user to the number that
is understood by the PSTN/ITSP (SIP) network.
• ANT is applicable on Destination Port (FXO or SIP1 or SIP2 or SIP3) only and when the call is made from
FXO or SIP (source port).
• Two number Lists are programmed for this feature: Dialed number list and Substitute number List.
• In the Dialed number list the numbers are programmed which are to be dialed by the user and in the
Substitute number List, the numbers are programmed which will be actually dialed out by ATA while out
dialing the number.
• You can program the Number List with the Number String which is to be dialed. You can program
maximum of 24 such number strings in one Number List, called 'Dialed Number List'. As per your
requirement, you can program different Dialed Number Lists ranging from 1 to 8. Assign this list number as
'Dialed Number List' in SIP or FXO port parameters for using ANT feature.
• You can program the Number List with the Number String which the ATA will dial out when the user dials
the number programmed in the corresponding Index of the Dialed Number List. You can program
maximum of 24 such number strings in one Number List called 'Substitute Number List'. As per your
requirement, you can program different Substitute Number Lists ranging from 1 to 8. Assign this list
number as 'Substitute Number List' in SIP or FXO port parameters for using ANT feature.
• You can program the special character for Pause timer in the number string configured in 'Substitute
Number List'. Refer “Pause Timer” in chapter 'FXO Port'. This will be used for ANT application like, multi-
stage dialing. Refer chapter “Using SETU ATA211”.
Automatic Number Translation (ANT) on FXO is applicable when routing type for the call on SIP Account is
configured as 'Collect number and route to FXO'. Refer chapter “SIP Accounts”. It is not applicable for
source port as FXS port.
To elaborate:
While making international calls over IP, it is usually required to dial the same number as dialed when making
call using PSTN. E.g. User dials the number 001 479 29785434 on PSTN to make a call to U.S. User also
dials the same number when he wants to make call over IP as per the services provided by ITSP. But few
ITSP restrict user to dial only country code. This means, the user should only dial 1 479 29785434 to make a
call to U.S.
Now, since the user is habitual with dialing a complete number, he may dial the complete number with prefix
(00) and finally, this call will be rejected by ITSP. Hence using ANT feature, the user can manipulate the
number string as required by ITSP to complete the call. For above example, program the Dialed Number List-
1 and Substitute Number List-2, for ANT feature as shown below:
Assign these List numbers to program the ANT feature in web page 'SIP Accounts' and enable 'ANT'.
Thus, '001 479 29785434' will be replaced by '1 479 29785434' when the number is dialed out by ATA. This is
called 'Automatic Number Translation' (ANT).
