The ATA supports detection of the Disconnect Tone and use it to release the FXO port of ATA211 when remote
party goes on-hook or disconnects the call. The tone detection is applicable for both IC and OG calls made on/ from
FXO port. This is explained below:
As shown in above figure, the station-X is in active call with remote party 'Y'.
Now during the call, when remote party 'Y' goes ON hook, the PSTN exchange does not send any disconnect
signal as an indication of ON-hook. Hence the party 'X' does not know about this and remains OFF-Hook even if
party-Y had gone ON-Hook.
In such cases, if the PSTN sends some signaling in form of 'Disconnect tone', and if this is detected by ATA211 at
user 'X', it will be useful for the ATA as an indication that the remote party 'Y' has gone ON-Hook . This will be used
to disconnect the call.
The Disconnect tone consists of tone frequency and ON-OFF time.
The ATA211 can detect the frequency in the range of 275-665 Hz. The ON time and OFF time are programmable.
Configure following parameters for Disconnect tone detection:
• Enable Disconnect Tone Detection?: Select 'Yes' if Disconnect tone detection is to be enabled. Select
'No' if disconnect tone detection is to be disabled. Default =Yes.
• Disconnect Tone ON Time: Program this if disconnect tone is enabled. Program ON time which will be
detected for the disconnect tone. Range is 0001 to 9999 msec. Default=0750 msec.
• Disconnect Tone OFF Time: Program this if disconnect tone is enabled. Program OFF time which will be
detected for the disconnect tone. Range is 0001 to 9999 msec. Default=0750 msec.
For programming these parameters, details of Disconnect Tone's ON Time and OFF Time (Cadence) can
be known from PSTN Exchange from which trunk line is subscribed.
Calling Line Identification (CLI)
CLI Type:
• The ATA detects the calling party number which is displayed on the LCD of the telephone instrument
connected to the FXS port. Different type of signaling is used by different exchange for sending the calling
party number.
• To detect this CLI number, ATA211 supports programmable signaling type.
