1.5 Checks during paving
The following points must be constantly observed during paving:
Paver function
- Screed heater system
- Tamper and vibration
- Engine oil and hydraulic oil temperature
- The screed parts must be retracted and extended in time when obstacles are in
the way
- Uniform material transport and distribution or supply to the screed; may require
corrections to settings of the material switches for conveyor and auger.

Quality of the layer
- Paving thickness
- Slope
- Evenness in the driving direction and at right angles to it (check with 3m levelling
rod)
- Surface structure/texture behind the screed.
See section "Malfunctions, problems during paving" if the paving quality is poor.
When paving, material in front of the crawler tracks’ driving route must be removed
promptly, otherwise, service life of the track shoes and the paving result
will be reduced.
