Using a Roland DIF-AT
With an ADAT
With a Roland DIF-AT, audio can be digitally exchanged between the VS-2400CD and
an ADAT recorder, controlling the ADAT from the VS-2400CD.
1. With the power to all devices turned off, connect the ADAT to the
DIF-AT, and the DIF-AT to the VS-2400CD.
2. Turn on the ALESIS ADAT, and then turn on the VS-2400CD.
3. Hold down SHIFT and press F4•UTILITY.
4. Press PAGE until “R-BUS” appears above F1.
5. Press F1 (R-BUS)—the R-BUS CONFIG screen appears (Page 371).
6. Activate remote control of the VS-2400CD’s R-BUS jack.
7. Press the F1 (R-BUS) to display the DIF-AT’s settings.
8. Set INPUT SELECT to ADAT.
9. Press F6 (EXI).
10. Press PAGE until “Proj” appears above F3.
11. Press F3 (Proj)—the PROJECT PARAMETER screen
appears.
12. Set MASTER CLOCK to INT.
13. Press F6 (EXIT).
14. Press F5 (MIDI)—the display switches to the MIDI
PARAMETER screen.
15. Set MMC MODE to MASTER.
16. Press F6 (EXIT).
17. Press F6 (SYNC)—the SYNC PARAMETER screen appears.
18. Set SYNC MODE to EXT and set the EXT SYNC SOURCE parameter to R-BUS.
With a TASCAM DA Series Device
With a Roland DIF-AT, audio can be digitally exchanged between the VS-2400CD and a
DA Series—T-DIF—device, with the VS-2400CD being controlled by the DA Series
device.
1. With the power to all devices turned off, connect the DA series device to the
DIF-AT, and the DIF-AT to the VS-2400CD.
2. Turn on the TASCAM DA Series device, and then turn on the VS-2400CD.
3. Hold down SHIFT and press F4•UTILITY.
4. Press PAGE until “R-BUS” appears above F1.
5. Press F1 (R-BUS)—the R-BUS CONFIG screen appears (Page 371).
6. As described on Page 371, activate remote control of the VS-2400CD’s R-BUS jack.
Connect the ADAT’s SYNC IN connector to the SYNC connector on the DIF-AT. This
connection is required for controlling the ADAT remotely from the VS-2400CD/DIF-AT,
and to transmit MTC from the DIF-AT.
A TASCAM DA Series device’s word clock cannot be slaved to the VS-2400CD. It must
provide the master word clock for both devices.
Connect the DA Series device’s SYNC IN connector to the SYNC connector on the
DIF-AT—its SYNC OUT connector cannot be connected to the DIF-AT.
