3.8 Fuel feed pump
3.8.1 Outline of fuel feed pump
The fuel feed pump supplies fuel to supply pump by
mechanical.
3.8.2 Structure of fuel feed pump
The fuel feed pump is made up of fuel feed pump body,
priming pump and the like.

3.8.3 Function of fuel feed pump
The fuel feed pump supplies fuel to supply pump by
mechanical.
The
fuel
feed pump is provided with a priming pump.
This is for air removal through manual operation of the
priming pump.

During the up stroke, the piston (3) is pushed up by the
fuel cam (6) via the tappet (5) and push rod (11).
As
a result, the pressure in the inner chamber (7) rises,
the check valve (suction side) (1) closes and the check
valve (discharge side) (8) opens.
On the other hand, the pressure in the outer chamber
(10) is lowered so the check valve (suction side) (4)
opens and check valve (discharge side) (9) closes.
During the down stroke the piston is lowered by a
piston spring (2) and the pressure in the inner chamber
is lowered so the suction side check valve opens and
discharge side check valve closes.
On the other hand, the pressure in the outer chamber
rises so the suction side check valve closes and
discharge side check valve opens.
