9.5 Structure of diesel oxidation
catalyst (DOC) system
The diesel
oxidation catalyst (hereinafter referred to as
the "DOC") system is made up of a 2 DOC and DOC
outlet.
(1) Body (DOC outlet)
(2) Catalyst (DOC)

9.6 Feature of diesel oxidation
catalyst (DOC) system
The DOC system burns particulate matter (PM) such as
soot
contained
in exhaust gas and performs
aftertreatment on it.
The PM is combusted and changed into carbon dioxide
and water by chemical reaction.
The carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere.

(A) DOC assembly
1. Exhaust
gas
that passes through the exhaust
manifold flows into the catalyst (DOC) (1).
2. Exhaust gas that passes through the catalyst
(DOC) (1) flows into the next catalyst (DOC) (2).
3. PM is combusted by the catalyst (DOC) (2).
4. Flows from the catalyst (DOC) (2) assembly to the
outside.
