5. Replace this lubricant “Vent” screw and gasket
only and continue filling until excess starts to flow
out of second lubricant “Vent” screw hole.

a - Vent Screw (Torque to 60 lb. in. (6.8 N·m)
b - Fill/Drain Screw (Torque to 60 lb. in. (6.8 N·m)
c - Oil Level Vent Screw (Torque to 60 lb. in. (6.8 N·m)
6. Replace second lubricant “Vent” screw and
gasket.
IMPORTANT: Do not lose more than one fluid
ounce (30cc) of gear lubricant while reinstalling
“FILL” screw.
7. Remove lubricant tube from “Fill” hole; install
“Fill” screw and gasket. Torque “Fill” screw to 60
lb. in. (6.8 N·m).
Gearcase Installation
WARNING
Disconnect (and isolate) spark plug leads from
spark plugs before installing gear housing onto
drive shaft housing. Failure to follow this warn-
ing could result in accidental engine starting and
possible injury.
1. Position outboard shift linkage into forward gear
position.
