REMOVAL OF THE MASTER CYLINDER
Remove
the
floorboard
and
disconnect
the
1\ in.
union
nut
connecting
the
pipe line
to
the
master
cylinder.

clear
the

Remove
the
-Pc-
In.
nuts
and
spring
washers
from
the
two
bolts
passing
through
the
master
cylinder and
securing
it
to
the
frame
member.
Withdraw
the
bolts.
Disconnect
the
brake
pedal
return
spring
from
the
frame.

Lift
out
the
brake
pedal
complete
with
push-rod,
rubber
boot
and pedal
return
spr
ing.
The
master
cy
linder
complete
wit h main supply
pipe
is now easily
removed
.

DISMANTLING THE MASTER CYLINDER
Remove
the
filler cap and
drain
the
Lockheed
hydraulic
brake
fluId from
the
master
cylinder
.
Remove
the
main feed pipe, union and
copper
washers,
Push
the
piston
down
the
cylinder
bore
and
remove
the
retaining
eirelip.

Access to
the
master
cylinder for removal is
obtained
by
removing
the
floo
rboard.
Remove
the
remain
ing
internal
parts
, l.e.
the
piston,
piston
master
cup.
return
spr
ing. valve
cup
assembly
and valve
seat
ing
washer.
To
remove
the
secondary
cup from
the
piston.
carefully
stretch
it
over
the
end flange, using
the
fingers only.

ASSEMBLING THE MASTER CYLINDER
Clean all
parts
thoroughly,
using Lockheed
Genuine
Brake Fluid {or all
rubber
components.
All
traces
of
fuel ,
kerose
ne
or
t richI
orethyl
ene used for cIeaning
the
metal
parts
must
be
removed
before assembly.
