4. Torque the valve cover fasteners in the sequence
below.
TORQUE
Valve Cover Fasteners:
7 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
5. Connect the spark plug wire retention clip to the valve
cover.
VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT
IMPORTANT
Valve clearance inspection must be performed before
valve clearance adjustment. Refer to Valve Clearance
Inspection page 2.33.
1. Remove the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Service
page 3.39.
2. Remove the valve tappet(s)

from the out-of-
adjustment valve(s).
NOTICE
Keep mated parts together and in order with respect to
their cylinder head location for assembly purposes.
3. Record the three digit number on the bottom of the
valve tappet.
4. Select the appropriate valve tappet. Refer to Valve
Lash - Tappet Selection page 3.7.
