4. Perform engine timing procedure. Refer to Engine
Timing page 3.32.
5. Reinstall the valve cover. Refer to Valve Cover
Service page 3.35.
CAMSHAFT INSPECTION
CAMSHAFT LOBE
1. Visually inspect each cam lobe for wear or damage.
2. Measure the height of each cam lobe from the base
circle to highest point on the lobe using a micrometer.
Compare to specification.
NOTICE
Replace camshafts if damaged or if any part is worn
past the service limit.
MEASUREMENT
Intake Camshaft Lobe Height:
2.0257 - 2.0294” (51.45 - 51.55 mm)
Service Limit:
2.0237 (51.40 mm)
Exhaust Camshaft Lobe Height:
2.0257 - 2.0294” (51.45-51.55 mm)
Service Limit:
2.0237 (51.40 mm)
CAMSHAFT JOURNAL
1. Visually inspect each camshaft journal for scoring,
wear or damage.
2. Measure the diameter of the camshaft journals using
a micrometer. Compare to specification.
NOTICE
Replace camshafts if damaged or if any part is worn
past the service limit.
MEASUREMENT
Camshaft Journal O.D.:
1.2572 - 1.2580" (31.933 - 31.954 mm)
Service Limit:
1.2568" (31.923 mm)
CAMSHAFT BORE
1. Temporarily install the camshaft carriers to measure
the camshaft bore. Torque bolts in sequence to
specification. Replace cylinder head if worn.
TORQUE
Camshaft Carrier Bolts:
7 ft-lb (10 Nm)
ENGINE / COOLING / EXHAUST
