îš¾ Select the cutting edge number D of the tool.
îš¾ Select whether you want to use the caliper on the main or
counter-spindle, in case there are two calipers on the machine.
îš¾ Manually position the tool in the vicinity of the caliper such that the
caliper can be traversed in the corresponding direction collision-
free.
Cycle Start
îš¾ Press the "Cycle Start" key.
The automatic measuring process is started, i.e. the tool is traversed
at the measurement feedrate to the caliper and back again.
The tool length is calculated and entered in the tool list. During this,
the cutting edge position and tool radius or diameter are automatically
taken into consideration as well.
2.5.5 Balancing the caliper
If you want to automatically measure your tools, you must first
determine the position of the caliper in the machine space in reference
to the machine zero-point.
The "Calibrate caliper" function is only available if an adequate
protective level is set.
Please also refer to the machine manufacturer's instructions.
For balancing, you must approach the caliper from 4 directions (+X,
-X, +Z, -Z).
When doing this, use a calibrating tool with which you can touch the
caliper in all required directions.
The type (rougher or finisher) must be set for the caliper. During this,
the cutting edge must always point in the X and Z direction (cutting
edge position 3). You must enter the length and the radius or diameter
of the calibrating tool in the tool list.
