2.8 Manual mode
Always use the "Machine Manual" mode when you want to set up the
machine for the execution of a program or to carry out simple
traversing movements on the machine.
2.8.1 Selecting a tool and spindle
For the preparatory actions in manual mode, the tool selection and the
spindle control is done centrally in a screen form.
In addition to the main spindle (S1), there is another tool spindle (S2)
for powered tools. Your lathe can also be equipped with a counter-
spindle (S3).
In manual mode, you can select a tool either by its name or its
revolver location number. If you enter a number, ShopTurn first
searches for a name and then for a location number. This means that
if you enter "5", for example, and no tool with the name "5" exists, the
tool is selected from location number "5".
Using the revolver location number, you can thus swing around an
empty space into the machining position and then comfortably install a
new tool.
