17-16 FRONT AND REAR BRAKES
FRONT MASTER CYLINDER REASSEMBLY
AND INSTALLATION
Reassemble and install the master cylinder in the reverse order
of removal and disassembly. Pay attention to the following
points:
• Install the brake lever. (17-19)
NOTE:
When remounting the master cylinder onto the handlebar, align
the master cylinder holder’s mating surface A with the matching
mark B on the handlebar and tighten the lower bolt 1 first.
• Tighten the master cylinder holder bolts (1, 2) to the speci-
fied torque.
Master cylinder holder bolt :
(Lower
1
): 12 N·m (1.2 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)
(Upper
2
): 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-m, 7.0 lbf-ft)
NOTE:
Fast tighten the bolt of master cylinder holder bolt lower side C,
due to hot starter lever 3 provided.

• Set the brake hose end between the hose stopper D, then
tighten the brake hose union bolt 6 to the specified torque.
Brake hose union bolt: 23 N·m (2.3 kgf-m, 16.5 lbf-ft)
• Refill brake fluid and bleed air from the brake system.

Replace the seal washers with new ones.
