Using the M4 TORNADO Software

Fig. 54 Workspace Report
Reports (formatted result presentations) can be produced in two different ways:
External report. All objects to be included into a graphical or text report generated by a third
party software tool, e.g. Microsoft
®
WORD or another page processor, can be transferred using
files saved to local volumes, using the export function or via the Windows
®
clipboard. Both
applications can run simultaneously allowing the report to be built up during the course of work.
Transferring data to third party applications with the M4 TORNADO software works with a few
mouse clicks.
Internal Reports. The M4 TORNADO software includes a WYSIWYG editor (report editor) very
similar to well-known Office
®
tools. The Report workspace permits the generation and editing of
graphical documentations of the measured data and analysis results. These reports also serve as
containers for relevant measurement data of spectra, images, mapping, etc. That means if a
spectrum is shown in the report, the spectrum data is also maintained in this report. This allows
rescaling, copying back to the workspace, or even evaluating spectra from within the report editor.
As long as the report is saved using the internal report format (*.rpt) this data can be fully
retrieved at any time and any place where the M4 TORNADO software is available.
These allow a great degree of automation of report generation. The reports can be saved,
retrieved, and distributed. The complete report can be exported to Microsoft
®
WORD.
For transferring data, spectra, distribution images, etc. to the report editor, use the option Add to
report in the Export/Import menu ( ).
Editable Objects. M4 TORNADO reports do not only contain graphics, but also editable data
objects. These play the same role as objects in a project in the sense that the content can be re-
edited, and processed at any time. Even spectra contained in a report and distributed to another
location can be re-quantified. Almost all types of objects can be exchanged between the current
project and a M4 TORNADO report.
