1.3 Intended Usage
The M4 TORNADO may only be used for material analysis, in particular for the determination of
element composition of materials or for analysis of coating systems.
The M4 TORNADO may only be operated by trained and authorized personnel in compliance with
all safety instructions covered in these operating instructions. Safe operation cannot be
guaranteed unless the machine is used as defined by these operating instructions.
Any other use beyond that described is considered as non-intended usage. The operator, not the
manufacturer, assumes sole liability for all personal injury and material damage arising from non-
intended usage.
The following applications are explicitly excluded from the definition of intended usage:
 Medical and biological applications of any sort
 Radiographic applications
 Online process analytical applications in industry and research
 Analysis of aggressive chemical or radioactive substances
1.4 Warranty and Liability
The general conditions of sale and supply as passed to the operator of the M4 TORNADO X-ray
analysis device by Bruker Nano GmbH strictly apply. Warranty and liability claims for personal
and material damage are excluded if they are a result of one or more of the following reasons:
 Non-intended usage of the M4 TORNADO.
 Improper start-up, installation, packaging, transport or operation of the M4 TORNADO.
 Operation of the M4 TORNADO while the protective housing is not completely closed or in
case it is damaged, with faulty safety equipment or not properly attached.
 Non-compliance of the safety regulations and instructions within this document.
 Improper connection and improper cabling of the M4 TORNADO and its safety equipment.
 Use of a control software other than the “M4 TORNADO” software included in the delivery.
 Use of a computer technology other than that included in the delivery or a different
measurement computer than the one acknowledged by the manufacturer.
