12.1 Updating the Communication Unit Software
12.1.1 Overview
The software is common for both FELCOM-250 and 500. (exclusion Antenna unit). The
units which are subject for updating their software are Communication unit: CommUnit
(HUB, MODEM), Handset, Incoming indicator, and Antenna units (ATB and HPA).
Before updating the software;
1. Make sure to have “Java” installed in the PC.
2. When updating the Communication unit: CommUnit (HUB, MODEM), have two
LAN IP addresses prepared for the PC since the IP address used for the updating
maintenance mode and the one for normal network communication are different.
When you are using a PC which does not have two physical LAN ports, you will
need to add LAN IP address. In this case, updating may not complete successfully
depending on the PC.
3. When you intend to update the Handset and the Incoming indicator only, you will
only need the normal network connection LAN IP address.
Note)
1. Do not turn the power off while you are updating the software.
If you cancel updating the software on the way for Modem and the Incoming
indicator, you will be not to rewrite into there.
2. When you intend to update the software for the Handset, make sure to confirm the
“Handset.cfg” file. Depending on the settings made in this file, the setup values
set in the Handset will be deleted. Refer to page 12-25.
For example, the setting; Settings > 3. SIP > 1. Client set will be deleted, and you
will have to make the setting once again to be able to make a phone call.
3. The setup values will not be deleted even if you update the software for the
Communication unit: Comm Unit (HUB, MODEM) and the Incoming indicator.
4. When you update the software for the Handset, or the Incoming indicator, you can
have several units connected. All units connected in the same network will be
updated by a single updating operation.
