LONG TERM STORAGE 3
BEFORE STORAGE 3
NOTICE
To protect the hydraulic cylinder piston rod while in stor-
age, keep the work equipment in the posture shown at
right.
(This prevents rust from developing on the piston rod)
When putting the machine in storage for a long time, do as follows.
q Clean and wash all parts, then store the machine indoors. If the machine has to be stored outdoors, select
level ground and cover the machine with canvas.
q Completely fill the fuel tank, lubricate and change the oil before storage.
q Apply a thin coat of grease to the metal surface of the hydraulic piston rods.
q Disconnect the negative terminals of the battery and cover it or remove it from the machine and store it sepa-
rately.
q Lock each control lever and pedal with the safety lock lever and pedal lock.
q Set the stop valve to the LOCK position on machines ready for attachments. Install the blind plugs to the
elbows.
q Set the selector valve on the machines which can install attachments to the “Where no attachment is mounted“
position.
q If the ambient temperature is expected to drop below 0
o
C, change fuel and oil to low viscosity type for all com-
ponents. For detail see "LUBRICANTS, FUEL AND COOLANT SPECIFICATIONS (4-10)"
DURING STORAGE 3
WARNING
When it is necessary to perform the rust-preventive operation while the machine is indoors, open the
doors and windows to improve ventilation and prevent gas poisoning.
q During storage, always operate the machine once a month so that a new film of oil will be coated over mov-
able parts and component surfaces. At the same time, also charge the battery.
q For machines equipped with an air conditioner, run the air conditioner.
q Rotate the tracks.
