Carrying Out KOWA (Komatsu Oil Wear Analysis) 4
The oil clinic samples the oil periodically and analyzes it. This is a preventive maintenance service, which pro-
vides early discovery of abnormal parts and wear of the drive parts of the machine. This then makes it possible to
ensure prevention of failures and reduction in downtime.

KOWA Analysis Items
q Analysis of metal wear particles
This uses an ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) analyzer to
measure the density of metal wear particles in the oil.
q Measurement of particle quantity
This uses a PQI (Particle Quantifier Index) machine to
measure the quantity of large iron particles in the oil.
q Others
Measurements are made of items such as the ratio of water or fuel in the oil, and the dynamic viscosity.

q Make sure that the oil is well mixed before sampling.
