banner exec
The banner exec Global Configuration mode command specifies and enables a message to be
displayed when an EXEC process is created (The user has successfully logged in). Use the no form of
this command to delete the existing EXEC banner.
Syntax

— Delimiting character, for example a pound sign (#). A delimiting character cannot be
used in the banner message.

message
— Message text. The message must start in a new line and can be a multi-line
message. Tokens in the form $(token) in the message text can be included. Tokens are
replaced with the corresponding configuration variable. Tokens are described in the usage
guidelines.
Default Configuration
Disabled (no EXEC banner is displayed).
Command Mode
Global Configuration mode.
User Guidelines
• Follow this command with one or more blank spaces and a delimiting character. Then enter one or
more lines of text, terminating the message with the second occurrence of the delimiting
character.
• When a user connects to a device, the message-of-the-day (MOTD) banner appears first, followed
by the login banner and prompts. After the user logs in to the device, the EXEC banner is
displayed.
