Installation/Operation VEGA™ Series BankNote Validator Section 2
Preventive Maintenance
Retrieving Banknotes
To retrieve Cash Box deposited Banknotes, perform
the following steps:
1. Pull the Release Handle to free the Cash Box
from the Frame and pull the Cash Box forward as
illustrated in Figure 2-10a.
2. Rotate the Thumb Lock Knob counterclockwise
and lo
wer the Cash Box Door (See Figure 2-10
b).
3. With the Cash Box Door open, retrieve the
Bank-
notes
as illustrated in Figure 2-10c.
Clearing a Banknote Jam
To retrieve a jam located inside the Banknote ď€
Validator, proceed as follows:
1. Simultaneously push in on the two (2) Upper ď€
Section Open/Close Buttons located on each side
of
the Unit, and lift the Upper Validation Section
open (See Figure 2-11 a).
2. Remove the Course Reversing Guide Cover by
pres
sing in on the two (2) Guide Cover Release
Buttons located on each side of the Cover
(See Figure 2-11 b).
3. Turn the Thumb Lock Knob to
gain access to the
jammed Banknote (See Figure 2-11 c).
4. Remove the jammed Banknote or foreign object
jam
ming the transport path.
5. Remove the Cash Box from the VEGA Unit.
6. Rotate the Cash Box Banknote Transportation
Gear
in the necessary direction to remove the
jammed Banknote (See Figure 2-12).
Cleaning Procedure
To clean the Lenses, use a lint-free cloth and a mild
non-abrasive detergent such as liquid dish soap
mixed with water. It is important to keep the Bank-
note path, Rollers, and Belts clean. Use a soft lint-
free cloth or a Cotton Swab to wipe dirt and stains
from the surfaces of the Magnetic and Optical ď€
Sensors, Rollers and Belts. The Sensor Lenses are
transpa
rent, and made of a Polymer material; ď€
handle them with care. Repeat the cleaning process
as
needed until the Transport path is free of con-
taminants.

To properly clean the VEGA Unit’s Sensors, ď€
proceed as follows:
1. Turn the VEGA Unit Power OFF.
2. Open the Upper Validation Section.
3. Clean the appropriate path in the location of
each ď€
Sensor as well as the Sensor itself (See Figure 2-
13 and Table 2-4 on page 2-4 for all locations).
