– Open shut-off valve 4.

Follow the operating instructions of the bleeding device.
– Ensure that the filling pressure is set on pressure gauge A. Correct the filling pres-
sure on the pressure regulator B if necessary.
Guideline
Filling pressure 2… 2.5 bar (29… 36 psi)

– Pull off dust cap 5 of the bleeder screw of the brake caliper. Connect the hose of
the bleeder bottle.
Bleeding device (00029013100) ( p. 252)
– Open bleeder screw 6 by approximately one half turn.

Drain until fresh brake fluid emerges from the hose of the bleeder bottle
without bubbles.
– Tighten the bleeder screw.
– Close shut-off valve 4.
– Open the bleeder screw again until no more brake fluid emerges.

This prevents overfilling of the brake fluid reservoir.
– Tighten the bleeder screw. Remove the hose of the bleeder bottle. Attach the dust
cap.
– Disconnect the bleeding device. Remove the bleeder cover.

– Correct the brake fluid level to level A.
Guideline
Level A 5 mm (0.2 in)
Brake fluid DOT 4 / DOT 5.1 ( p. 248)
– Position the cover with the membrane. Mount and tighten the screws.

Clean up overflowed or spilt brake fluid immediately with water.
– Check the hand brake lever for a firm pressure point.
14.6 Checking the rear brake linings
Warning
Danger of accidents Reduced braking efficiency caused by worn brake linings.
– Change worn brake linings immediately.
Note
Danger of accidents Reduced braking efficiency caused by damaged brake discs.
– If the brake linings are not changed in time, the steel brake lining carriers grind on the brake disc. The braking effect is greatly
reduced and the brake discs are destroyed. Check the brake linings regularly.

– Check the brake linings for minimum thickness A.
Minimum thickness A ≥ 1 mm (≥ 0.04 in)
» If the minimum thickness is less than specified:
– Change the rear brake linings. ( p. 71)
– Check the brake linings for damage and cracking.
» If there is wear or tearing:
– Change the rear brake linings. ( p. 71)
