Disconnect
the alternator exciter coil connector and
connect The tester probe to Ihe Black/Red te rminal
and
Ground.
In I ho same manne r as at t he I CM connec to r.
measure the peak vo l tage and compare it 10 the
voltage measured at the I CM conneCTOr.
II The peak volTage measured at th e ICM is
abflormal and the one measUied at Ihe al ternator
ex citer co il is normal, the w ire harness has an
open Circuit or loose connection.
If both pea k voltages measu re are abnormal,
check each i tem in the troub leshooti ng eha r1 (page
13·3). II all items are norma l. the alternator exciter
coil is fa ulty (page 13-10 for Sla t or replac eme n t>'
IGNITION COIL
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remove the fuel tan ~ (page 2-3 ).
Disconna.::t the spa rk plug cap from Ihe plug .
Disoooflect
tl;>.e primM'; wires f rom I lle igni ti on coil .
Remove the ign iti on coil.
Installati
on is in the reverse orde r of remova l.
IGNITION CONTROL MODULE
REMOVAL/ INSTALLATION
Remove the fuel tank (page 2· 3),
Disconnect the I gnit i on Control Module ItCM ) con-
nectors.
Remove the I CM /rom the frame,
I nstall a tio n is in the reverse order 01 removal.
