MAINTENANCE
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the cy/ind.u head , hend·
ti ghten t he spar k p lug before using a wrench fa
tighten 10 the specified tOTqlNl
Reinstall t he Spark plug in tho cy li n de r h ead and
hand tighten, then torque it u sing a s pa rk plug
w rench.

REPLACING A SPARK PLUG
Set the plug gap to specificat i on with a wire·rype
feeler g au ge (page 3·9).
CAUTION:
Do nO f over l igMen the spark plug .
Inst all and ha nd t ighten t he new spark plug. then
tight en it about 1/2 of a t<.lrn a ft er the s e~ li n 9 washer
contacts the seat of the plug hole.
Install the spark plug ca p.
VALVE CLEARANCE
inspect and a dju!;1
l/ul valve
clearance while

INSPECTION
R emove the fI()llowing
- Side cav C!r (page 2·2)
- Seat
(page 2· 2)
- !-i ead cove r (page 7· 3)
Remov e the left crankcase cover (pageI3·9).
Tu rn the cranksha ft countercloc k wise and align the
"T" mark on the flv w heel with the inde x notCh on
the left crankcase.
Ma ke sure the piston is at T DC (Top Dead Center)
on th e compression strOke.
