• Remove the ignition switch. (7-29)
• Remove the handlebar holder.
INSPECTION AND DISASSEMBLY
Inspect the removed parts for the following abnormalities.
* Handlebars distriction
* Race wear and brinelling
* Bearing wear or damage
* Abnormal bearing noise
* Distortion of the steering stem
If any abnormal points are found, replace defective parts with the
new ones.
• Remove the steering stem lower bearing inner race using a
chisel.

The removed bearing inner race and dust seal should be
replaced with the new ones.
• Drive out the steering stem upper and lower bearing races us-
ing the special tools.
