CAM SPROCKET
• Inspect the sprocket teeth for wear.
• If they are worn, replace the sprocket/camshaft assembly and
cam chain as a set.
• Install the cam sprocket to the camshaft. (3-75)
• Apply a small quantity of thread lock to the cam sprocket bolt
and tighten it to the specified torque.

CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER
INSPECTION
• Remove the cam chain tension adjuster cap bolt.
• Check that the push rod slides smoothly when releasing stop-
per.
• If it does not slide smoothly, replace the cam chain tension ad-
juster with a new one.
CAM CHAIN TENSIONER
INSPECTION
• Check the contacting surface of the cam chain tensioner.
• If it is worn or damaged, replace it with a new one.
CAM CHAIN GUIDE
INSPECTION
• Check the contacting surfaces of the cam chain guides.
• If they are worn or damaged, replace them with the new ones.
