1.11 Preparing old undamaged window for
glazing
1.11.1 Cutting back adhesive bead
Carry out following work:

If an undamaged window is being re-used, cut back the resid‐
ual adhesive sealant to 1 to 2 mm shortly before bonding it
back in. Do not damage primer and ceramic coating when do‐
ing this.

Remaining material serves as adhesion base for newly ap‐
plied adhesive sealing compound.
WARNING
Do not prime bonding surface and do not treat with a cleaning
solution. Keep bonding surface free of dirt and grease.
Exception: if bonding is not performed immediately after cutting
back, the remaining residual material must be activated with ac‐
tivator -D 181 801 A1- .
1.12 Preparing new window without precoat‐
ing for glazing
Carry out following work:
No replacement windows are precoated.
Note
♦
The area on which the adhesive bead is applied is not pre‐
coated or primed.
♦
The sealing lip is included with a new windscreen.
– Clean all round edge of window over a width of 20 mm with
cleaning solution -D 009 401 04- .
– Then rub edge of window dry using a lint-free cloth.
WARNING
Ceramic coating on window is not glass/paint primer! It must
be primed before application of adhesive sealing compound!
Use only glass/paint primer D 009 200 02!
