Configuring SNMP 349
Configuring Communities
Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
configure access rights for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2.
show snmp group
[
group_name
]
View SNMP group configuration information.
show snmp user
[
user_name
]
View SNMP user configuration information.
Command Purpose
configure Enter Global Configuration mode
snmp-server community
string
[ro | rw | su]
[view
view-name
]
[ipaddress
ip_address
]
Configure the community string and specify access criteria
for the community.
community-string
Acts as a password and is used to
authenticate the SNMP management station to the
switch. The string must also be defined on the NMS in
order for the NMS to access the SNMP agent on the
switch (Range: 1-20 characters)
ro
Indicates read-only access
rw
Indicates read-write access.
view-name
Specifies the name of a previously defined
MIB view.
ip_address
Specifies the IP address of the management
station. If no IP address is specified, all management
stations are permitted
